Fall of senior year brings more than just football games and senior events; it also brings college application season. The pressure of these applications is starting to creep up, and the seniors are starting to feel a mix of excitement, stress, and anticipation.
Between writing essays, managing deadlines, and making big decisions for their futures, the seniors are navigating a challenging but also inspiring chapter of their lives. They’re reflecting on what they’ve done and where they want to go while also juggling their current classes and other responsibilities. Some seniors are starting to feel mixed emotions.
“Both nervous and excited,” said student, Saumya Kabnur. “It’s definitely a stressful time with writing essays and worrying about where I’ll end up, but I’m also super excited about this new chapter in my life.”
The mix of emotions is something most seniors can relate to. For some, the most challenging part right now is managing and balancing all their other responsibilities.
“Trying to make sure my schoolwork is also completed while also studying for the SAT and filling out application is just a lot of work piling on top of me, causing me to be stressed and overwhelmed.” said student, Aayra Prasla.
For some, though, the challenge isn’t all the deadlines. It’s the pressure of ensuring that their applications and essays stand out amongst others.
“The most challenging part has been revising my essay over and over again to make sure it’s perfect,” said student, Rivah Dharani.
Some students say that teachers have been a big help in guiding them through this process.
“I feel like I’ve had enough support and guidance,” said Kabnur. “My English teacher, Ms. Yaffie, has helped so much with my essay revisions.
However, not everyone has had the same experience. Some seniors feel that the school could be doing more to help guide them through this stressful time.
“I feel like I’ve had no advice or support from my counselors at all,” said Prasla. “There has been no assembly to help students in my grade know.”
Despite all the stress, the seniors are determined to follow their dreams and complete their goals. It hasn’t been easy, but they’re pushing through. The class of 2025 is ready to take on the next chapter of their lives.
