From Feb. 19 to Feb. 21, seniors Lucia Chang and Meena Chintalapally competed at Deca’s State level to qualify for Nationals. They are now set to compete at Nationals from April 25 to April 29 at Atlanta, Georgia.
Succeeding at this event required chemistry, a mutual understanding, and collaboration efforts.
“Our teamwork is quite interesting,” Chang said. “Polar opposite at times but in a way that compliments each other well.”
In order to qualify for nationals, this team worked behind the scenes as they prepared to overcome certain obstacles during their competitions.
“We watched a lot of example videos, studies vocabulary and practiced role plays,” Chintalapally said. “Understanding prompts in general during our roleplays were just some of the obstacles we faced.”
As seniors, this year was their last chance to qualify for Nationals. Not only did they want to progress to next level, they also wanted to enjoy their last year of Deca.
“Our goal was to try our best, have fun, and have no regrets.” Chang said.
As they now prepare for Nationals, this team also prepares to join other qualifying Deca members from across the country.
“We are really looking forward to meeting people from all around the world and building connections.”
