School Police Officer’s Insights on Securing School and Ensuring Students Safety

Officer Pocasangre, our schools’ campus police officer with 17 years of experience, shared valuable strategies for preventing conflicts and providing a safe environment.

Pocasangre’s journey into law enforcement began with attending a police academy and passing the licensing exam. These steps serve as the foundation for his role as a school police officer and taught him the knowledge necessary to safeguard students and staff at our school. 

He believes that one of the main duties of a school police officer is to maintain constant attentiveness,always being alert of your surroundings and responsive to any situation that may occur. By staying vigilant, school officers can respond to conflicts, potential threats, or emergency incidents within the school.

“You have to always be alert of ur surroundings and be attentive so you can respond accordingly to whatever situation may arise,” Pocansangre said.

On potential threats, Pocasangre highlighted the importance of teamwork and to take all threats seriously. He emphasizes the important of officers being capable to handle various situations, such conflicts among students to potential threats.

 “We take all the threats and conflicts very seriously and try our best to prevent further harm,” he said.

In addition to speaking up about threats,Pocasangre shed light on the importance of proactive measures and protocols aimed at preventing such incidents. He says that schools should have comprehensive security measures in place, including regular drills, and threat assessments.

His 17 years of experience as a school officer provide a unique perspective on what it takes to create a safe learning environment. His insights and experience shed light on the importance of rigorous training, immediate responses, and proactive measures.
