The Battle for Drunk Elephant: When Tweens Outspend Millennials

Sephora has always been a place where one can lavish in the world of skincare and makeup. In the past, young adults including teens would be the ones who purchased the high-quality products. As kids, we would have little princess playing sets that contained glittery eyeshadows of low quality but were still fun, or we stole our mom’s makeup. Little did we know fast forward to the future, due to the influence of TikTok and influencers world wide, 10 year olds have felt the need to start their journey into the beauty world as soon as they were able to walk.
This has started a debate among the internet, starting with the availability of certain brands like drunk elephant and rare beauty to be constantly out of stock in local stores and not accessible to the older customers.
There are some who question the parental authority that provides the kids with the monthly spending. Early social media exposure has also been blamed. Opinions vary as many believe it to not be a big deal while others worry about it nurturing self-entitlement. Sephora employees have spoken out about the mess and sanitary threat the tweens have caused, and their experiences dealing with their rude and impatient manner.
