Zamora’s background in law enforcement inspired her

After ten years of teaching, Mrs. Zamora has been named Austin’s Teacher of
the Year. With a history in law enforcement and passion for helping younger people,
Mrs. Zamora has dedicated her career as a teacher to preparing students for life and
careers that fall under the human services umbrella.
Mrs. Zamora was inspired to become a teacher from her first career in law
enforcement, where she recognized the importance of how early intervention can shape
a person’s future. She witnessed the challenges young people go through and realized
she could make a greater impact supporting and guiding them through education.
“I thought I could serve humanity better if I was on the education side rather than
the law enforcement side,” she explained.
She has now been teaching for 10 years; Mrs. Zamora teaches courses for
Austin’s human services endorsement pathway.
“I teach human services, human growth and development, counseling and
mental health, and nutrition,” she stated. “It’s a lot of different classes, but it’s all under
the human services umbrella.”
Receiving the title of Teacher of the Year is a meaningful and significant
recognition for all her hard work. Mrs. Zamora is honored to be recognized for it.
“It’s very exciting!” she exclaimed. “It’s a very nice to be nominated by your
peers, it’s recognition for the hard work you do, which is always appreciated.”
Mrs. Zamora continues to make an impact on her students through her teaching
by teaching them the essential skills. She is focused on personal growth and career
readiness guarantees that her students are on their way to success. Congratulations to
Mrs. Zamora on this well-earned recognition.
